An Ode to Fall

I have another confession to make.  See previous one here.

I love fall.  It’s one of my favorite of the five seasons.  Yes, that’s right, I said five.  I consider Christmas to be it’s own season.

But for me, fall doesn’t start on Sept. 21st or when the weather cools off.  For me, fall starts on Sept. 1.  Hear me out here…..I get out the Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving.  Which means I only get slightly less than 3 months (Sept, Oct, Nov) to enjoy one of my favorite seasons.  So those autumn decorations come out September 1st on the dot.  (Ok, who am I kidding? I actually already got them out and have them in a staging area, ready to go next week.)


There are so many things to love about fall.  Besides fall decorations and the usual holidays, you also have the pumpkin scented candles and lotions, the fairs and festivals, the leaves changing color, Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks, cozy sweaters, pumpkin patches and more.

But first, we have what constitutes the last weekend of summer for most people.  Hubs and I are heading out tomorrow to the Midwest to visit his family and attend his 25th high school reunion.  Don’t be fooled- there were 40 kids in his class, so this “reunion” will consist of beers and brats by the lake.  But really, I can’t think a of a better way to celebrate the end of summer and transition into fall.
